my love and I are young and I still have to take the shahada but I'm very nervous about the whole thing. We also want to get our degrees so we can support each other so if we get married. any advice?

Well if you are serous about Islam and really want to be Muslim I say go for it :) Most people think I turned Muslim because of a guy which IS NOT TRUE. I took my shahada and became interested in Islam WAAY before I meet the man I am going to spend the rest of my life with In Sha Allah. I did it for myself and Allah(SWT). I was about 15 years old when I first came across Islam and I finally decided to take shahada when I was 17 which was 8 months ago. The reason why I held back was because the fear of my family especially my parents. But Alhamdulilah I over came that fear and taking shahada was the best decision I have ever made in my life and I couldn’t be anymore happier. I was nervous as well and believe me you will feel so much happiness and it will be a very special moment for you. Remember if you want to take shahada do it for yourself and most importantly for Allah(SWT). And I think it is very smart that both you and him want to get your degrees before you get married because I have friends who are already married and still in college and both of them are struggling to support each other and another friend of mine is already married with a baby and her husband is going to school and working at the same time while she is home taking care of the baby and they are struggling a lot. So I say wait to get married when you are done with school because it will be a lot more better for the both of you. But I also suggest to get engaged just so that the both of you know you are serous about each other and keep it halal. The guy I am committed to lives 10 hours away from me. We meet through friends and we only talk on the phone, text, and sometimes Skype. He does have family that lives here so when he comes down here he will see me but we have siblings with us and i specifically told him I do not want to hug, kiss, hold his hand, or anything till we are married because those moments is what makes a marriage beautiful and new. Everything should be new when you are married and it will be worth it :) If you have anymore questions please do not hesitate to mail me hun. I wish you the best! <3

Thank you so much :) and he’s not my husband yet In sha Allah in about 3 or 4 years. We are still young and he wants to finish college and get a degree so he can support the both of us. He’s Afghan and was born a Muslim but he’s helping me become a better Muslim and teaching me more things <3
